Smug Brothers have a new EP called “Another Bar Behind the Night” out now via Anyway Records and Just Because Records!
Here’s what The Big Takeover had to say about it:
“Not six months after their latest fine indie rock LP, In the Book of Bad Ideas, Ohio’s non-brothers—like the Walker Brothers and Righteous Brothers, nyuck nyuck—come right backatcha with a 10-minute six songer just as crispy. And even if four of those six barely manage the one-minute mark— drummer Don Thrasher is ex-Guided By Voices—they feel complete. Singer/guitarist Kyle Melton still sounds like Martin Newell and The Fast Camels’ Drew Sturgeon—those are good things—and they still propagate a nice variety while boring into their brevity, in the Tobin Sprout-ish “The Seven-Year Inch,” the shaking, catchy riff-rock of “Cricket Blessings” and “Shedding Polymer” (like a great lost Young Fresh Fellows” tune), and yummy psych-pop flashes in “Seamus the Younger.” But blink—and it’s over.”
The cassettes are very limited; Midheaven/Revolver is taking your orders now!
